“Whenever innovation happens, new opportunities emerge”: PM Modi on AI-driven disruptions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged concerns among young people regarding AI-driven disruptions in the job market, emphasizing that preparation is the most effective response to uncertainty.

“I understand the concern of our youth about AI-driven disruptions in the job market. Preparation is the best antidote to fear. That is why we are investing heavily in skilling and reskilling our people for an AI-driven future. The Government has launched one of the world’s most ambitious skilling initiatives. We are not treating this as a future challenge, but as a present priority,” he said.

The Prime Minister described AI as a “force multiplier” that will expand human capabilities and enable professionals such as doctors, teachers, and lawyers to reach and serve a larger population.

He further noted that history consistently shows technology does not eliminate work—it transforms it. “The nature of jobs changes and new kinds of opportunities are created. While some roles may be redefined, digital transformation will also generate new technology-driven jobs in India’s economy.”

Addressing long-standing fears surrounding technological revolutions, PM Modi said that similar concerns have surfaced throughout history, yet innovation has consistently created fresh opportunities. “Whenever innovation happens, new opportunities emerge. The same will hold true in the age of AI.”

He also highlighted India’s readiness for this transformation, noting that the country ranked third in the Stanford Global AI Vibrancy Index 2025, reflecting strong progress in AI research, talent development, and economic integration.

“By combining innovation with inclusion, we are confident that AI will strengthen India’s workforce. With the right skills and preparation, our youth will lead the future of work,” PM Modi said in an interview with ANI.
